3D Printer

The Institute of Mineral Resources Engineering (MRE) uses a state-of-the-art 3D printer (Leapfrog Creatr HS) for diverse applications in several research areas. Our main focus is on the visualization of complex geometries and solids, such as the model of an ore body. Our FDM-technology (Fused Deposition Modeling) 3D printer has two extruders and is therefore able to print soluble support material. This enables us printing overhangs and complex interlocking geometries without any problems.

Features of the „Leapfrog Creatr HS“:

  • Dual Extruder
    • Two-tone printing possible
    • Printing of soluble support structures possible
  • Compatible filaments:
    • ABS
    • PLA
    • PVA
    • Nylon
    • Brick
    • Hybrid transparent
  • Up to 300 mm/s printing speed
  • Up to 400 mm/s travel speed
  • Big print volume of 13.6 ltr. (280 x 270 x 180 mm)
  • Heated printing environment (up to 90°C)
