Research Infrastructure

The MRE runs a well-equipped analytical infrastructure that allows us to not only conduct multidisciplinary research, but to also provide a large number of different services.

Mine Visualisation Lab

The MRE has a range of advanced equipment that enables 2D and 3D imaging of resources, mines and operations:

  • Drones DJI Phantom 3 Standard, 4 Pro and 4 RTK
  • Mevea and Tenstar training simulators
  • Leica Geosystems BLK2GO LIDAR
  • Insta 360 One R Twin and Ricoh Theta V 360° cameras
  • Virtual reality mine
  • Axiom Holographics hologram table

Resource Characterisation Lab

Our laboratory can characterise the physical, mineralogical and geochemical parameters of mineral raw materials.

  • Olympus Vanta portable X-ray fluorescence spectrometer (pXRF)
  • SciAps handheld laser-induced breakdown spectrometer (pLIBS)
  • Portable infrared spectrometer (pIR)
  • Malvern Panalytical Aeris X-ray Diffractometry (XRD)
